Émile De Visscher is an engineer, designer and doctor of design. Through both design, engineering, material sciences, but also critical writing and curating, he explores the different ways technologies and techniques relate to each other and interact. He has received several prizes (James Dyson Bursary, Innovation Hothouse, NYC Material Connexion) and has travelled to over 30 international expositions. Simultaneously, he runs and directs Obliquite, an independent design journal, that documents the position and discourses of the field’s young generation, currently caught in its transitional period.

Emile de Visscher completed his Masters degrees at the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (FR, 2009) and the Royal College of Art (UK, 2012). Since 2018, he is a doctor of design from the SACRe programme of the University PSL, prepared at the EnsadLabn the l’EnsAD/PSL laboratory.
